eHarmony Pairs with Force10 Networks to Power Leading Online Relationship Service

eHarmonyeHarmony is powering its online relationship service with the Force10 Networks TeraScale E-Series® family of switch/routers. The TeraScale E-Series provides a flexible network foundation upon which eHarmony can support its more than 12 million registered users today and delivers the scalability required to add new customers and services in the future.

“As the most trusted relationship service in the country, eHarmony has to deliver complete service reliability, including the uptime of our network,” said Cyrus Mohit, manager of data center operations at eHarmony. “With the Force10 E-Series, we have the flexibility and freedom to easily adapt the network to accommodate new services without a complex upgrade or network redesign.”

Hanaro Telecom Turns on Video Services with Force10 Networks TeraScale E-Series

HanaroHanaro Telecom, the second largest telecommunications carrier in South Korea, is deploying the Force10 TeraScale E-Series family of switch/routers in its fiber to the home (FTTH) network to power its new HanaTV service. With this deployment, Hanaro now relies on the TeraScale
E-Series for its cable service, Internet data center and FTTH network.

“The number of subscribers and amount of bandwidth being consumed across our network continues to grow, as does our need for scalable, resilient service platforms,” said HyunChan Kim, managing director of the backbone network team at Hanaro Telecom. “Force10 has consistently delivered the high performance switching and routing we require, so it was a natural extension to deploy the E-Series in the Hanaro IP network.”

Managing Data Center Power and Cooling to Gain Competitive Advantage

As server microprocessors become more powerful in accordance with Moore’s Law, they also consume more power and generate more heat. Similar geometric improvement in disk storage technology has driven rapid growth of online data, using mass storage systems that often consume as much power as the servers themselves. With the rapid growth in computing power and storage capacity, typical data center power consumption (kWh) and power density (kWh/sq. ft.) are both spiraling upward, placing a strain on many existing data center power distribution and cooling systems.
